Maternity
The maternity ward provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for women with physiological and high-risk pregnancies, antenatal and postnatal care from the 34th week of pregnancy and specialist care for newborns in cooperation with the neonatology department. We use standard modern examination methods in the care of patients. The maternity ward has all the necessary and standard technical equipment and means of medical technology.
We provide care in connection with the latest trends in obstetrics. We try to actively cooperate with parents and respect their requirements and needs. Our primary goal is to make expectant and postpartum mothers feel comfortable in a home-like environment. All employees here understand the importance of being patient and providing the necessary advice and information. Doctors have an individual approach to each mother and inform her quite openly about her health condition, further appropriate treatment, the course of hospitalization and the necessary checks after discharge.
Of course, the ward for mothers after childbirth includes rooms for mothers with babies (rooming-in), teaching and breastfeeding assistance, for which the ward has received the prestigious “Baby Friendly Hospital” award. The department also has several superior rooms.
The delivery room is modernly equipped with individual delivery boxes with basic and special equipment, aids for the application of alternative obstetric methods and units for the treatment of newborns after birth. In the related tract there is a separate operating room for performing caesarean sections and then a fully equipped intensive care unit (ICU) for patients.
The services of the department are supported by the broad complement of the Mělník Hospital. We cooperate with specialists of other departments, e.g. anesthesiology and resuscitation unit, surgery, internal medicine, infections, ENT, neurology, physiotherapy, hematology, skin, psychiatry, etc. In addition, we work with a clinical psychologist and, at your request, access to spiritual advisors is available.
The maternity ward does not charge any fees for care covered by public health insurance (admission for delivery, own delivery, standard accommodation in double rooms).
Services not covered by health insurance (especially superior accommodation and accompaniment to the birth) are charged according to the hospital price list.
The Obstetrics Department cooperates with leading perinatology centers such as the Institute for Mother and Child Care Prague – Podolí, the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the General University Hospital Prague, the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the University Hospital Prague – Motol and assisted reproduction centers.
